Stardust. An experiment in generative portraiture

Life is finite. Creativity isn’t. An artist has the potential to create infinite artworks but only some of them will see the light due to the constraint of time. What if we use technology to outsource the creation of art so more of these potential artworks are finally created? – Sergio Albaic

And technology he did use. The concept was nucleosynthesis. The automated process would create human portraits as collages, with images from the Hubble Telescope as source. (CLICK! Flickr Stardust Portrait Exhibition)

One of the best things about the project is the fact that people from all over the world can have their own three versions of generative portraits (for a limited period of time for free!) by sending a photo of themselves on his website.

I was lucky enough. Hence, my galaxy-filled portraits.
